About the role#
David Mason + Associates (DMA) hires Civil Interns to work under the supervision of professionally licensed engineers and land surveyors. This program exposes students to the full life cycle of engineering projects, from initial proposals to field visits and final design. You will support project teams across services including civil and structural engineering, power and utilities, and land surveying.
What you'll do#
- Assist with engineering plans using AutoCAD or Revit.
- Produce final construction drawings, details, and specifications.
- Prepare reports and calculations, including assessments and cost opinions.
- Perform site investigations and inspections in the field.
- Conduct research on local regulations for specific project locations.
- Observe and participate in client meetings.
- Maintain time sheets and track mileage.
- Assist project managers with day-to-day operations.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a 2 or 4-year degree program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Ability to take direction and work independently with supervision.
- Strong active listening and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and versatile approach to tasks.
- Previous exposure to Microsoft Office Tools.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or Bluebeam is helpful.
- Experience reading plans, sketches, and specifications is a plus.
- Prior exposure to land surveying or construction site work is a benefit.
