About the role#
As an Electrical Intern at David Mason + Associates, you will work under the supervision of licensed engineers and land surveyors. This program exposes you to the full life cycle of engineering projects, from initial proposals to final construction. You will support our team in daily operations and gain experience across various services, including civil and structural engineering, power and utilities, and field services.
What you'll do#
- Support entry-level design tasks and prepare project documents like plans, specifications, and reports.
- Use AutoCAD or Revit to assist with engineering plans and the production of construction drawings.
- Help with project calculations, assessments, and cost opinions.
- Assist project managers and participate in client meetings.
- Conduct research on local regulations.
- Perform site investigations and inspections during and after construction.
- Track your time, mileage, and reimbursement documents.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2 or 4-year degree program in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to take direction and work independently with supervision.
- A detail-oriented, versatile, and enthusiastic approach to your work.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.
- Exposure to document management software like Bluebeam.
- Experience reading and interpreting plans, sketches, and specifications.
- Previous exposure to land surveying or construction site work is a plus.

- This is a paid, full-time internship based in Chicago, Illinois.
- Work is on-site.
- This position follows a rolling term.
- You will spend at least 75% of your day at a workstation using computer equipment.
