About the role#
David Mason + Associates (DMA) offers a structural internship program designed to expose students to the full life cycle of engineering projects. You will work under the supervision of professionally licensed engineers and land surveyors. This role involves supporting project teams with design tasks, field visits, and daily operations. Participation in this program provides insight into various services, including structural engineering, land surveying, and field services.
What you'll do#
- Assist with engineering plans using AutoCAD or Revit.
- Help produce final construction drawings, details, and specifications.
- Prepare reports and calculations, including assessments and cost opinions.
- Support project managers with assigned tasks.
- Observe and participate in client and project meetings.
- Conduct field site investigations and inspections.
- Research local regulations for project locations.
- Manage administrative tasks such as time sheets and mileage tracking.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a 2 or 4-year degree program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Ability to work independently under supervision and take direction well.
- Strong active listening and open communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, versatile, and enthusiastic approach to work.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam or document management software.
- Exposure to reading plans, sketches, and specifications.
- Previous experience with land surveying or construction sites.
