About the role#
David Mason + Associates offers an internship program designed to expose students to the full life cycle of engineering projects. You will work under the supervision of licensed engineers and land surveyors to support the design and preparation of plans, specifications, and reports. This role provides an opportunity to learn about project initiation, field visits, and daily operations across various services including civil, structural, and power engineering.
What you'll do#
- Create engineering plans using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar platforms.
- Produce final construction drawings, details, and specifications.
- Prepare reports and calculations for assigned projects, including cost opinions and assessments.
- Assist project managers with daily tasks.
- Observe and participate in client meetings.
- Conduct research on local regulations based on project locations.
- Perform site investigations and inspections during and after construction.
- Maintain time sheets and track mileage.
- Follow company employee and safety manuals.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a 2 or 4-year degree program in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Ability to take direction while functioning independently under supervision.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to participate in team projects.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools like Outlook, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam or document management software.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, sketches, and specifications.
- Previous exposure to land surveying or construction site work is a plus.
