About the role#
As a Civil Intern at David Mason + Associates, you will work under the supervision of licensed engineers and land surveyors. This role exposes you to the full life cycle of engineering projects, from initial proposals and design to site visits and daily operations. You will support our teams across various services, including civil and structural engineering, power and utilities, and field services.
What you'll do#
- Create engineering plans using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.
- Help produce final construction drawings, details, and specifications.
- Prepare reports and calculations for assigned projects, including cost opinions and analysis.
- Assist project managers with daily tasks and requests.
- Observe and participate in client meetings.
- Conduct research on local regulations relevant to specific project locations.
- Perform site investigations and inspections during and after construction.
- Follow all company and safety manuals.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a 2 or 4-year degree program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Ability to work independently with supervision and take direction well.
- A detail-oriented, versatile, and enthusiastic approach to your work.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools like SharePoint, OneDrive, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or comparable software.
- Exposure to Bluebeam or similar document management software.
- Experience reading and interpreting plans, sketches, and specifications.
- Background in land surveying or time spent on construction sites.
