This engineering internship supports the electric motor development team in the design, validation, and optimization of motors for electrified powertrain systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, testing, manufacturing, and quality to improve product performance and reliability. This role provides hands-on experience in electric motor design, product validation, and technical documentation.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers in the design and development of electric motors for automotive and mobility applications.
- Support product validation testing, covering performance, thermal, and durability assessments.
- Analyze test data and simulation results to evaluate motor efficiency, torque, and reliability.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and design specifications.
- Participate in design reviews and technical discussions with multidisciplinary teams.
- Support root cause analysis and troubleshooting for motor performance issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for product design and testing processes.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure design for manufacturability.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of electrical machines, power electronics, or automotive systems.
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or Python.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent) is an asset.
- Understanding of electric motor principles (PMSM, induction motors) is preferred.
- Knowledge of thermal management or electromagnetic simulation tools (ANSYS, Motor-CAD, JMAG) is preferred.
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
