About the role#
Magna Exteriors is hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Student for a 12-month term covering Winter, Summer, and Fall 2027. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Brampton, Ontario. You will support our manufacturing operations by analyzing processes, improving productivity, and ensuring our production lines run efficiently.
What you'll do#
- Implement continuous improvement projects to address quality, material flow, and throughput.
- Establish and drive improvements in overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Provide operational analysis to lower product costs and improve labor performance.
- Develop moulding and assembly processes for new programs.
- Create standardized work instructions and document processes through flowcharts and PFMEAs.
- Assist in the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
- Determine storage space requirements and maintain work areas using 5S principles.
- Lead efforts to incorporate new concepts into existing systems with a focus on automation and cost reduction.
- Ensure all work complies with IATF 16949 standards, CTPAT/PIP requirements, and the Magna Code of Conduct.
- Maintain a safe work environment by reporting hazards and following health and safety regulations.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a University degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Computer Engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and common word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to solve problems effectively.
- Leadership, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- A lean perspective with a drive for continuous improvement.
- Experience in process manufacturing, moulding, assembly, or automation controls is preferred.
- Previous experience in the automotive industry is an asset.
