About the role#
As a Reliability Engineering Support Intern, you will assist in investigations into emerging and systemic product issues to identify root causes and drive corrective actions. You will work across departments including Quality, Engineering, Supplier Management, Compliance, and Aftersales to resolve complex field issues. This role involves analyzing performance data, guiding troubleshooting efforts, and preparing materials for safety and quality review committees. You will act as the voice of the customer to support product quality and uptime.
What you'll do#
- Investigate product failures through analysis and troubleshooting.
- Analyze product issue data using statistical applications to determine the scope and severity of problems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement product improvements.
- Support field actions by creating publications like Technical Service Bulletins, Recalls, or Customer Advisory letters.
- Communicate field actions to dealer technicians using internal systems.
- Analyze financial benefits to determine the appropriateness of field campaigns.
- Provide technical support to Field Staff, Sales Engineering, and Technical Support teams.
- Coordinate your own travel to diagnose and troubleshoot product problems in the field.
- Lead efforts to foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's program or higher in Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Recent graduates within one year of the position start date are also eligible.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to solve complex problems independently with minimal guidance.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- A customer-oriented mindset with the ability to work in an environment of ongoing change.
- Preferred: Knowledge of internal combustion engine operation, including mechanical, electronic, and software controls.
- Preferred: Prior experience in the automotive or trucking industry.
Location & details#
- Location: Detroit, Michigan.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Hybrid, with four days per week in-office and one day remote.
- Employment: Full-time internship.
