About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on developing your skills to prepare for a future as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs to help pharmacists and technicians manage and improve patient health.
- Manage pharmacy workflow procedures, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service and show empathy to contribute to positive patient experiences.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the direction of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and facilitate medication changes where allowed by state regulation.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries and cycle counts.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status to support vaccine administration.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- 1+ years of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations in the market to meet business needs is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
