About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between your pharmacy school education and real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role focuses on developing your clinical and operational skills in preparation for a future Pharmacist position. You will gain exposure to store, district, and regional operations while contributing to a safe and inclusive pharmacy environment.
What you'll do#
- Complete a structured training roadmap including key learning experiences and activities.
- Assist pharmacy teams with daily operations to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Fill prescriptions accurately and safely while following standard operating procedures.
- Provide caring service to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns, and stocking medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions, reporting events as required.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Flexibility to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
