About the role#
This internship provides practical experience in aerospace and manufacturing quality. You will support Quality Engineering and Quality Management System activities while working on real departmental projects. You will learn established quality processes, standards, and decision boundaries under the guidance of our team.
What you'll do#
- Assist Quality Engineers with First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and AS9102 documentation.
- Support nonconforming material and Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
- Participate in containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up.
- Provide quality support to manufacturing and inspection teams.
- Assist with internal audit activities, including record sampling and observation.
- Review drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to identify quality needs.
- Participate in FMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plan risk-based activities.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize quality data for reports and recommendations.
- Support supplier and customer quality activities.
- Assist with continuous improvement tasks like updating procedures and work instructions.
- Work cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams.
What you'll need#
- Must be a US Person (US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or protected person).
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
- Foundational understanding of engineering, manufacturing, mathematics, or statistics.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to distinguish facts from assumptions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Preferred: Coursework or prior experience in manufacturing, quality, process improvement, or data analysis.
- Preferred: Familiarity with standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, AS9102, FMEA, SPC, Lean, or Six Sigma.
- Preferred: Exposure to GD&T, dimensional inspection, or product verification.

- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in Hiawatha, IA or Cedar Rapids, IA.
- The position operates on a rolling basis.
- This is a paid internship.
