About the role#
Crystal Group is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team. This position focuses on the design, development, and verification of mechanical components, including sheet-metal and machined parts. You will work on integrating mechanical and electrical components into single assemblies for use in demanding environments. This is a full-time, on-site role.
What you'll do#
- Convert technical requirements into schematic diagrams and assembly drawings.
- Ensure all designs are producible and error-free.
- Support System Architects in capturing and addressing customer requirements.
- Assist with capital plans, project schedules, and department budgets.
- Provide technical assistance for Pilot Line builds and product testing.
- Offer component-level review and troubleshooting support for Manufacturing, Technical Services, and Sales.
- Review mechanical drawings and designs to ensure they meet specifications.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring for junior mechanical designers and engineers.
What you'll need#
- Must be a US Person, defined as a US Citizen, a person granted a US Permanent Resident Card, or an individual granted status as a protected person.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Experience with 3D design, finite element analysis, and computational fluid dynamics is preferred.
- Preferred background includes mechanical component design, manufacturing experience, or CAD software work.
- Familiarity with computer equipment such as servers, switches, and data acquisition systems is a plus.
- Ability to multitask and meet simultaneous project milestones.
Location & details#
- Locations: Hiawatha, IA and Cedar Rapids, IA.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
- Physical requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods during product testing.
