About the role#
Mesh Optical Technologies is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design and build of optical interconnect products and the associated high-volume manufacturing facilities. Interns and co-ops are embedded within the engineering team to manage substantive projects.
What you'll do#
- Design and build development test platforms to characterize the thermal, optical, and electrical aspects of prototypes.
- Collaborate with a mentor to identify production process improvements and own rapid-prototype hardware from initial CAD design through to cleanroom implementation.
- Support designs using finite element analysis, thermal simulations, and detailed drawings with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Work hands-on alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers to develop optical manufacturing capabilities.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing or recently completed a BS or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a GPA of 3.5 or greater.
- A portfolio of hands-on projects, such as Formula SAE, SolarCar, Robotics, CubeSats, or similar club and personal builds.
- Proficiency with modern CAD software and version control.
- Strong analytical mindset, first-principles problem solving, and clear communication skills.
- Experience demonstrating multidisciplinary knowledge of electrical and software engineering concepts is preferred.

- Compensation: $26.00 to $38.00 per hour, based on academic year, plus a flexible monthly housing and transportation stipend.
