Mesh Optical Technologies is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer for an internship or co-op position. You will be embedded within the engineering team, contributing directly to the design and validation of optical interconnect products and the development of high-volume manufacturing facilities. This role involves taking ownership of technical tasks rather than working on side projects.
What you'll do#
- Perform schematic capture and multilayer PCB layout in Altium for test boards, power modules, control electronics, and optical interconnect components.
- Bring up and operate laboratory hardware, including oscilloscopes, VNAs, and logic analyzers.
- Document test results to support the validation of optical interconnect prototypes and production processes.
- Collaborate hands-on with a multidisciplinary team to develop high-volume optical manufacturing capabilities.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a BS or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- A GPA of 3.5 or greater.
- A portfolio of hands-on projects, such as Formula SAE, SolarCar, Robotics, CubeSats, or other club and personal builds.
- Familiarity with basic signal-integrity concepts and solder-rework skills.
- Strong analytical mindset and the ability to apply first-principles problem solving.
- Demonstrated aptitude in electrical engineering with a multidisciplinary understanding of mechanical and software engineering concepts.

- Location: Gardena, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid position ($26.00 - $38.00 per hour, based on academic year) with a flexible monthly housing and transportation stipend.
- Schedule: Full-time, rolling term.
