About the role#
This internship focuses on the design, development, and verification of mechanical components and assemblies. You will work within the Advanced Program Pursuits department to integrate mechanical and electrical parts into single units. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Iowa.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop mechanical components, including sheet-metal and machined parts.
- Convert technical requirements into schematic diagrams and assembly drawings.
- Ensure all designs are producible and error-free.
- Support System Architects in capturing and addressing customer requirements.
- Assist with capital plans, project schedules, and budgets.
- Provide technical support for the Pilot Line build and testing.
- Review mechanical drawings to ensure they meet established standards.
- Troubleshoot components for Manufacturing, Technical Services, and Sales departments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Status as a US Person (US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or protected person).
- Ability to multitask and work effectively both independently and in a team.
- Preferred: Experience with 3D design, finite element analysis, and computational fluid dynamics.
- Preferred: Prior experience in mechanical component design, manufacturing, or CAD software.
- Preferred: Knowledge of computer hardware such as servers, switches, and data acquisition systems.
