About the role#
This position offers nursing students a chance to gain experience in long-term care. You will work under supervision to provide direct support to residents at Amistad Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Reliability and consistent attendance are required for this role.
What you'll do#
- Provide personal care such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Change bed linens and keep resident rooms stocked with grooming supplies.
- Assist residents with ambulation and transfers using proper body mechanics.
- Reposition residents regularly and monitor their skin integrity.
- Support the nursing staff by answering call lights and completing non-nursing tasks like passing water or ice.
- Help residents with range of motion exercises and reality orientation.
- Identify and report any changes in a resident's condition to management.
What you'll need#
- Written proof of completion of a 16-hour ADL training program from an authorized instructor.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, self-discipline, and a focus on serving others.
- Ability to follow safety policies, procedures, and documentation protocols.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Commitment to the Patient Bill of Rights and Employee Responsibilities.
