About the role#
As a QA Engineer Intern, you will join an engineering team to learn quality engineering by building it. This is a coding role that emphasizes mentorship rather than manual testing. You will write automation code against real services and interfaces, learn how business rules translate into test coverage, and see a release through from development into User Acceptance Testing.
What you'll do#
- Write and maintain automated tests for RESTful APIs and web interfaces.
- Contribute to existing automation frameworks while following established patterns.
- Build UI test cases using Playwright, along with API and integration test cases for web services.
- Translate user stories and acceptance criteria into executable test scenarios.
- Verify data integrity by querying relational databases like MariaDB.
- Assist with test data preparation and environment setup for UAT cycles.
- Support UAT sessions with business stakeholders, document reported issues, and track defects through to resolution.
- Explore AI-assisted testing techniques, such as using models to draft test cases or summarize failure logs.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and team discussions.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit or recent completion of a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Foundational knowledge of Java and exposure to the Spring Boot framework.
- Solid grasp of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) concepts.
- Ability to write simple, modular, and maintainable code.
- Good knowledge of SQL and experience interacting with relational databases.
- Understanding of software quality principles, including TDD and BDD.
- Willingness to learn complex business rules and clear communication skills.
- Comfort working alongside both engineers and business users.
- Exposure to frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or Cucumber is helpful.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, and Git is a plus.
- Curiosity about AI and prompt engineering.
