About the role#
Clean Water Action works on campaigns involving water quality, access, and environmental justice. This internship focuses on our current effort to pass a moratorium on data center construction in Michigan. You will help us educate the public and build support for these policies. We provide on-the-job training for all responsibilities and the specific issues we cover.
What you'll do#
- Educate community members about environmental issues and provide tools for solutions.
- Organize and fundraise alongside our field canvass team.
- Assist residents in contacting their lawmakers regarding our campaigns.
- Identify volunteers to help hold politicians accountable for environmental and health policy decisions.
- Participate in lobby days, press conferences, and other organizational events.
What you'll need#
- Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
- A commitment to racial justice, equity, and cultural competence.
- Interest in environmental justice, social justice, non-profit work, or politics.
- Comfort working directly with a broad spectrum of people every day.
- While we welcome all majors, this role is a good fit for students studying Sociology, Communications, Political Science, or Public Health.
- Multilingual skills are a plus.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, paid position based in either East Lansing or Ann Arbor, Michigan.
- The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2 pm to 10:30 pm.
- This internship is for the Fall 2026 term.
- You must have existing plans to be located in East Lansing or Ann Arbor, as we do not provide housing assistance.
