The Comité Écologique du Grand Montréal (CEGM) is seeking Biodiversity Protection Officers for student or seasonal internship positions. These roles focus on the conservation, restoration, and maintenance of natural urban environments. This is a paid, full-time opportunity for the Summer 2026 term, with potential for part-time work continuing into the autumn.
What you'll do#
- Enhance natural environments within urban areas, specifically in Saint-Laurent and Côte Saint-Luc.
- Raise public awareness regarding the protection of rare urban ecosystems.
- Control invasive plant species such as buckthorn and phragmites.
- Prepare sites for renaturalization and perform maintenance on intervention zones.
- Execute planting operations for trees, shrubs, and native perennials.
- Conduct site clean-ups and maintain wildlife installations and equipment.
What you'll need#
- Must be between 18 and 30 years old.
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- A strong passion for environmental protection.
- Ability to work effectively in urban ecosystems.
- A commitment to teamwork.
- Relevant academic background in Environmental Engineering, Biology, Public Health, Agriculture, or Sociology is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Montreal, Quebec (Boisé du parc Marcel-Laurin, Boisés Ashkelon, Nathan-Shuster, and Pierre-Elliot-Trudeau).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (34 hours per week).
- Duration: Up to 5 months, from July 2026 to mid-November 2026.
