About the role#
Powertrust is hiring an Energy Impact & Data Operations Analyst Intern for a 6-month contract. You will work with the data scientist and operations team to turn renewable energy generation data into insights. This is a hands-on position focused on REC issuance workflows and streamlining operations with AI tools.
What you'll do#
- Analyze solar generation data and create performance reports for internal and client use.
- Build and maintain dashboards in tools like Looker Studio or Google Data Studio to track project KPIs and energy trends.
- Identify data gaps, missing intervals, and operational anomalies within the solar portfolio.
- Help the operations team gather and validate metadata needed for Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) issuance.
- Use agentic AI tools to manage solar project metadata and automate repetitive data workflows.
- Document internal data standards and assist in onboarding new projects into data pipelines.
What you'll need#
- A degree in Data Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, or a related field.
- Recent graduate status (not currently enrolled as a full-time student).
- Practical experience with data analysis and large datasets using SQL or Python.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet tools, including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas.
- Strong attention to detail, especially when working with incomplete or messy data.
- Clear written communication skills to summarize data findings.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Location & details#
- This is a 6-month, full-time, paid internship.
- The role is hybrid, with a strong preference for candidates based in the Greater Vancouver area.
- This position is for recent graduates only.
