About the role#
Powertrust is seeking an Energy Impact & Data Operations Analyst Intern to join their team for a 6-month contract. This role focuses on transforming renewable energy generation data into actionable insights, supporting Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) issuance workflows, and streamlining data operations using AI tools. You will work closely with the data scientist and operations team to manage data across a portfolio of distributed solar projects.
What you'll do#
- Analyze solar generation data and produce performance reports for internal and client use.
- Design and maintain dashboards using BI tools like Looker Studio or Google Data Studio to visualize project KPIs and energy trends.
- Identify data gaps, missing intervals, and operational anomalies within the project portfolio.
- Assist the operations team in gathering, organizing, and validating project metadata and generation data for REC issuance.
- Leverage agentic AI tools to automate and streamline data management workflows, from ingestion to reporting.
- Document internal data standards and assist in onboarding new projects into data pipelines.
What you'll need#
- A degree in Data Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, or a related field.
- Recent graduate status (not currently enrolled as a full-time student).
- Hands-on experience with data analysis and working with large datasets using SQL, Python, or equivalent tools.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet analysis, including the use of pivot tables, lookups, and formulas in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with incomplete or messy data.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to translate analytical findings into clear reports.
- Familiarity with BI tools, agentic AI tools, renewable energy concepts, or data pipeline processes is considered an asset.

- Location: Vancouver, British Columbia (Hybrid).

- Compensation: $30,000 CAD.
