About the role#
As a U.S. Operations Intern, you will work with the team responsible for the entire borrower lifecycle, from initial loan application to repayment. You will help manage the loan origination process and support entrepreneurs as they fundraise on our platform. This role involves direct engagement with borrowers, credit underwriting, and process improvement to help the Kiva U.S. program scale its impact.
What you'll do#
- Screen and approve loan applications with the review team.
- Provide support to borrowers via text and phone during their fundraising campaigns.
- Manage borrower delinquency by creating and implementing action plans to get accounts back on track.
- Pilot infrastructure and process improvements for our operations.
- Collaborate with U.S. Partnerships colleagues to refine the partner experience.
- Collect and synthesize feedback from applicants, borrowers, and partners to implement changes.
- Source borrower stories and assist with impact storytelling initiatives.
- Update and improve training materials for Capital Access Managers.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects to increase the value provided to entrepreneurs.
What you'll need#
- You are at least 21 years of age by January 12, 2027.
- You can commit to the full 6-month term.
- Strong critical thinking skills, high attention to detail, and a sense of ownership over your work.
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a start-up environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with problem-solving and relationship-building.
- Intermediate proficiency in Google Docs, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Location & details#
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 12, 2027, to June 30, 2027).
- Modality: Remote, based in the United States.
- Commitment: Part-time, 24-32 hours per week.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship with a monthly stipend of $800 before taxes.
