About the role#
We are looking for a Process Engineer Intern to join our oil refinery team in Laurel, Montana. You will provide technical support to refinery engineers to help units run at their best while meeting safety, environmental, and economic goals. This is a paid, full-time, rolling internship.
What you'll do#
- Monitor refinery processes, collect data, and conduct routine analysis.
- Develop and maintain material balances, performance calculations, and operating data summaries.
- Support projects focused on safety, reliability, energy efficiency, and product yield.
- Join in on field data gathering, equipment inspections, and process troubleshooting under supervision.
- Help maintain process safety information, such as PFDs, P&IDs, and management of change documentation.
- Create technical reports and presentations.
- Complete an assigned improvement project and present your recommendations.
What you'll need#
- Completion of your sophomore year in a Chemical Engineering or related bachelor’s degree program.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.6 or higher.
- Coursework in thermodynamics, material and energy balances, fluid mechanics, or process fundamentals.
- Experience with engineering software or data tools like Python, Aspen HYSYS, or PIPE-FLO.
- Previous experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural processing setting.
- Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators.
