About the role#
CHS Inc. is hiring a Mechanical Engineer Intern for our oil refinery in McPherson, Kansas. You will provide technical support to refinery engineers and inspectors to help maintain equipment reliability and performance. This role focuses on meeting safety, environmental, and economic guidelines through hands-on technical work.
What you'll do#
- Assist with mechanical equipment design and inspection data analysis.
- Perform fitness for service evaluations and develop equipment repair plans.
- Conduct root cause failure analysis and troubleshoot equipment performance issues.
- Work alongside Process Engineers to design and install new unit improvements.
- Identify and report safety, health, or environmental concerns.
- Manage projects including equipment specifications, integrity evaluations, research, and report writing.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior in a Mechanical or Civil Engineering program at a four-year university.
- Previous internship experience in the petrochemical or refining industry.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators.
