Data Intern

About the role#

The Data Intern works alongside the Data Analyst to support organizational reporting, business intelligence projects, and daily data operations. This position offers hands-on experience in how non-profit agencies utilize data to support community programs and strategic planning. Supervision and mentorship are provided on a bi-weekly basis to support professional development and learning goals.

What you'll do#

• Assist with data gathering, cleaning, and transformation for reporting and dashboard development.
• Support the creation and maintenance of dashboards, logic models, and scorecards.
• Document data flows, relationships, and processes, including ER diagrams and data dictionaries.
• Perform data validation and quality assurance activities.
• Prepare reports for program evaluation, strategic planning, and committee participation.
• Contribute to the organization and review of program data needs across systems such as EHRs, BI platforms, Odoo, and FAMs.
• Support artificial intelligence initiatives and participate in relevant meetings and work groups.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Must be enrolled in an internship program and receiving school credit for internship hours.
• Foundational knowledge of data modeling, data gathering, and data cleansing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic SQL.
• Familiarity with dashboarding tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Sisense.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
