About the role#
As a Plant Engineer Intern or Co-op, you will work on projects that improve plant reliability. You will identify opportunities for improvement, recommend solutions, and lead the implementation of these changes. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support daily operations and long-term maintenance goals.
What you'll do#
- Lead projects for the repair and installation of plant equipment like pumps, compressors, valves, turbines, and piping systems.
- Manage projects from start to finish by gathering technical data, performing engineering calculations, and presenting your recommendations.
- Update and review site maintenance and mechanical integrity procedures to support process safety.
- Perform mechanical failure analyses and document your findings to prevent future issues.
- Assist the plant engineering team with daily tasks and become familiar with plant processes and material specifications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Mechanical Engineering program at an ABET-accredited institution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting ideas and working with outside vendors or contractors.
- Commitment to complete a summer internship or a 7-8 month co-op assignment.
