About the role#
This internship provides clinical training and experience in trauma and Post Traumatic Stress treatment for Veterans and their families. Interns will develop skills in providing individual, couples, and family therapy with an emphasis on evidence-based care. Training or certification in Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or Cognitive Processing Therapy is required during the internship.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct clinical services and treatment to Veterans and their families.
- Conduct clinical intake assessments and document patient screenings, psychosocial assessments, and progress notes.
- Deliver individual, couples, and family psychotherapy using evidence-based treatments.
- Coordinate care with caregivers, physicians, clinic directors, case management, and other clinical disciplines.
- Attend weekly clinical, supervision, and administrative meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a 2nd-year student in a Master’s degree program in social work, counseling, or an equivalent behavioral health program.
- Familiarity with DSM-IV/DSM-V diagnoses, PTSD diagnosis, and treatment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Experience working with adults, children, couples, and families is preferred.
- An interest in expanding clinical knowledge beyond individual adult treatment to include child, couples, and family modalities is preferred.
