About the role#
The Graduate Assistant for Reservation and Event Services supports the Director with the management of year-round campus events, including Summer Camps and Conferences. This position involves supervising student employees, managing event logistics, and ensuring university policies are followed. You will work closely with various departments, including Dining Services, Residence Life, and Public Safety, to coordinate guest services and facility needs. This role requires participation in an emergency on-call rotation during the summer months.
What you'll do#
- Provide supervisory support to student staff, including training and task assignment.
- Manage office tasks such as answering phones, drafting contracts, and generating invoices.
- Use scheduling software to track event requests and monitor daily workflows.
- Coordinate with university departments to ensure successful event execution.
- Enforce facility guidelines and university policies.
- Support events outside of normal business hours and during school breaks.
- Assist with guest services, custodial requests, and check-in procedures during the summer.
- Document situations and provide follow-up during on-call rotations.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree and full-time status in an eligible Carroll University graduate program.
- Proficiency with Microsoft computer applications.
- Ability to work evening and weekend hours.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. and walk for extended periods.
- A valid driver’s license and insurability under university insurance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in higher education or an events office is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
- A collaborative, team-focused approach when working with diverse groups of people.
