About the role#
This position offers hands-on experience in the energy industry by working directly in the field. You will join the Field Operations team to support the safe and reliable operation of conventional assets. During this term, you will work alongside experienced operators to gain a practical understanding of production operations, facility equipment, and daily field activities. This role connects engineering concepts to real-world operations in areas such as light oil, heavy oil, gas, and thermal operations.
What you'll do#
- Support the safe and efficient operation of conventional oil and gas facilities.
- Monitor, inspect, and troubleshoot production equipment and systems to maintain reliability.
- Perform well testing, production reporting, and operational data collection.
- Contribute to a strong safety culture by completing hazard assessments and participating in worksite safety observations.
- Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Apply safe work practices and corporate standards to all field activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Engineering or an Engineering Technology diploma program.
- A valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- A responsible attitude toward safety.
- Physical and mental fitness for work.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening test.
Location & details#
- Term: Summer 2027 (4 months).
- Start Date: May 2027.
- Modality: On-site at field locations in Alberta, Northern BC, or Saskatchewan.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: Paid position including a safety boot allowance and coverage for safety training certifications and PPE.
