About the role#
The Arabian Horse Center is looking for a Student Assistant to help with daily operations. This role focuses on animal care, facility maintenance, and general farm support. You will work primarily outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. This position is open to students, particularly those studying Agriculture or Animal Science, who want hands-on experience in a working stable environment.
What you'll do#
- Groom and tack horses, including bathing, clipping, and blanketing.
- Feed and water horses while performing visual health inspections.
- Clean stalls, water troughs, and barn aisles.
- Operate a skid steer and other motorized equipment.
- Perform property maintenance using power and hand tools.
- Irrigate arenas and manage weed abatement.
- Lift and maneuver heavy items like hay bales and wheelbarrows weighing up to 50 pounds.
What you'll need#
- Previous experience working with horses.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of general safety requirements when working around horses.
- The ability to obtain driver's license certification for equipment operation.
- A willingness to work a regular schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to perform physical tasks in an outdoor environment.
