About the role#
The Corporate Affairs Intern supports internal and external communication efforts at BWXT. This role involves writing, content creation, and project management. You will work with the Tennessee Operations Community Engagement team to execute communication strategies that align with company goals. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Jonesborough, Tennessee.
What you'll do#
- Draft internal communications, including newsletters, announcements, and intranet content.
- Assist with external communication tasks such as press releases, social media posts, and website updates.
- Engage with community members and regional government officials, recruiting subject matter experts when necessary.
- Coordinate corporate events, community outreach, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Conduct research on industry trends and corporate responsibility programs.
- Develop presentations and talking points for company leaders.
- Monitor media coverage, social media engagement, and public sentiment.
- Maintain communication calendars, project timelines, and content archives.
- Collaborate with teams to gather information and ensure all messaging reflects company values.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Corporate Affairs, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Strong skills in writing, editing, and storytelling.
- Basic understanding of communication principles, media relations, and brand messaging.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, collaborate with others, and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with design or media tools such as Canva, Adobe, or video editing software is a plus.
