About the role#
As a Product Security Intern, you will spend the summer helping protect the platform construction professionals rely on daily. You will work alongside experienced security engineers to learn how security is built into the software development lifecycle. You will gain hands-on experience with the tools and workflows our team uses to keep our customers safe. By the end of the summer, you will have contributed to projects that protect the way the world builds.
What you'll do#
- Assist in running and triaging results from SAST and DAST scanning tools.
- Investigate and validate security findings while documenting confirmed vulnerabilities.
- Support the review of authentication and authorization implementations, including OAuth 2.0 flows and role-based access controls.
- Assist with cloud security posture reviews in GCP and Azure, including IAM policy analysis.
- Contribute to maintaining security scanning pipelines integrated into CI/CD workflows.
- Participate in secure code reviews to identify common vulnerability patterns.
- Maintain internal security documentation, runbooks, and vulnerability tracking records.
- Support dependency and software composition analysis scanning.
- Assist in basic penetration testing activities and security assessments.
- Participate in team meetings, incident reviews, and security-focused sprint activities.
- Complete an assigned security project with regular check-ins.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate security analysis and research.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, mathematics, physics, engineering, or a related field.
- Available to work full-time onsite at our headquarters in Omaha, NE, for the full summer.
- A strong interest in product security.
- Foundational understanding of web application security concepts like the OWASP Top 10.
- Knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, C#, JavaScript, or Bash.
- Basic understanding of authentication and authorization concepts.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix command-line environments and networking fundamentals.
- Experience using AI tools or a strong interest in learning how to use them effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and apply feedback.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Omaha, NE.
- Compensation is $28 per hour.
- The role runs for the summer of 2027.
- Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
