About the role#
As a Software Engineering Intern, you will spend the summer building features for the platform construction professionals use every day. You will work alongside experienced engineers to take projects from concept to production. This role provides an opportunity to sharpen your technical skills and ship code that impacts how the world builds.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications.
- Partner with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and QA to release new features.
- Write clean, well-documented code using our tech stack.
- Improve features that help customers manage their projects.
- Participate in code reviews to improve code quality.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with mentorship from senior team members.
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies like standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to speed up coding and debugging.
- Complete assigned tasks within sprint timelines.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- Strong interest in software engineering.
- Experience or interest in using AI tools like Claude or GitHub Copilot.
- Familiarity with languages such as C#/.NET, Java, and React.
- Understanding of development methodologies like Agile or Scrum.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Eagerness to learn and apply feedback.
Location & details#
- Location: Omaha, Nebraska.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site at Buildertrend HQ.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Pay: $28 per hour.
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
