About the role#
As a Summer Associate in the Retail Performance Improvement practice at BRG, you will work with experienced consultants to address operational and financial challenges for retailers, consumer brands, and private equity clients. This is a full-time, on-site internship for Summer 2027. You will contribute to projects that focus on profitability, operational optimization, and value creation.
What you'll do#
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify cost savings, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Support the development of business cases, forecasts, and value capture models.
- Conduct research on markets, competitors, and operations within retail and consumer sectors.
- Translate complex analysis into clear, client-ready slides and written deliverables.
- Contribute to diagnostics regarding supply chain, merchandising, store operations, labor, pricing, or omnichannel performance.
- Partner with consultants and client teams to support workstreams.
What you'll need#
- Progress toward a Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, accounting, analytics, engineering, supply chain, or operations.
- A GPA of 3.6 or higher is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Excel is required.
- Familiarity with PowerPoint is expected.
- Experience with SQL, Python, R, or Tableau is a plus.
- Ability to structure ambiguous problems and analyze data logically.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Candidates must have the legal right to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
- The position requires on-site work and may involve travel to client sites up to 80% of the time.
- This is a paid, full-time internship for students with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and July 2028.
