About the role#
This internship offers a dual-department rotation within our Accounting and Internal Audit teams. You will gain hands-on experience with the systems and controls that support our financial operations. The program runs for 10-12 weeks during the summer of 2027 and provides exposure to financial reporting and risk management.
What you'll do#
In the Internal Audit Department, you will:
- Examine and evaluate operational activities and internal controls.
- Assist with ongoing control monitoring.
- Recommend improvements for quality, control structure, and documentation.
In the Accounting Department, you will:
- Review and analyze vendor contracts and proposals for Accounts Payable.
- Participate in budget variance analysis.
- Assist in preparing financial statements, monthly close-outs, and quarterly statutory reporting.
- Analyze payment fraud and prevention techniques.
- Assist with daily cash flow analysis.
- Prepare weekly GAAP journal entries and reconcile investment holdings.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Information Systems, or a related auditor course of study.
- At least Junior level academic standing by the end of Spring 2027.
- A GPA of 3.25 or higher.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication, along with active listening skills.
- Ability to manage time and handle multiple tasks.
- Completion of auditing courses is preferred.
- Enrollment in a Mississippi-based college or university or residency in Mississippi is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The role is based on-site at our campus in Flowood, Mississippi.
- The program is scheduled for June through August 2027.
