About the role#
We are looking for two students to join our Actuarial team for a paid summer internship. You will work on-site at our Flowood, Mississippi campus for 10 to 12 weeks during June, July, and August of 2027. This role involves applying statistical modeling to healthcare data to support our pricing, reserving, and strategic planning efforts.
What you'll do#
- Assist actuarial personnel in analyzing data to develop and monitor rating formulas and factors.
- Help with product monitoring, pricing, claim reserving, and trend analysis.
- Extract and clean claims data for use in actuarial analysis.
- Prepare exhibits and memos for senior leadership based on actuarial documentation standards.
- Work alongside analysts and credentialed actuaries on daily operational tasks.
- Gain direct exposure to healthcare economics and core actuarial functions.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or a related field.
- Junior level academic standing by the end of Spring 2027.
- A GPA of 3.25 or higher.
- A strong mathematical background.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Preference is given to students enrolled in a Mississippi-based college or university, or Mississippi residents.
