About the role#
Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is looking for five students to join the Innovation & Development Team for a summer internship. You will gain hands-on experience in a corporate IT environment by working alongside experienced professionals on real world projects. The program spans 10 to 12 weeks during the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the maintenance and improvement of IT systems, including hardware, software, and networks.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of information security protocols.
- Participate in system programming projects involving coding, debugging, and testing applications.
- Help troubleshoot and resolve technical issues for end-users and internal systems.
- Collaborate with team members on network configuration and infrastructure upgrades.
- Conduct research and provide recommendations for new technologies and tools.
- Document IT processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor or master degree program in Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Junior level academic standing or higher by the end of Spring 2027.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- A basic understanding of technology concepts such as data, networking, programming, or cybersecurity principles.
- Familiarity with programming languages like Python, Java, or C++ and operating systems including Windows, Linux, or macOS.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- Ability to manage time effectively, handle multiple tasks, and pay close attention to detail.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft simple guides and listen closely to instructions.
- Preference is given to students enrolled in a Mississippi college or university or those who are Mississippi residents.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship located on-site at our campus in Flowood, Mississippi.
- The term is scheduled for Summer 2027.
