This internship offers an opportunity to learn about this, while providing hands-on experience with healthcare financial data, claims management, reimbursement methodologies, and impact model reporting while developing data analytics and business intelligence skills.As a Healthcare Analytics Intern (Value-Based Program), you will work alongside value-based care and reimbursement professionals to support the analysis, reporting, and administration of value-based care programs. This role provides hands-on experience with healthcare analytics, financial performance measurement, provider reimbursement models, and healthcare operations while developing skills in data analysis, reporting, and process improvement.Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is a Partner of Choice for the Nebraska University System. Our Interns work a hybrid schedule and spend some days working on-site at our Omaha office located in Aksarben Village.  Therefore, you will need to live within commuting distance from Wednesday, May 26 – Friday, July 30, 2027.What You'll Do:Learn how healthcare claims data, provider reimbursement, population health, and value-based care programs are used to support business decisions.Build an understanding of how health insurance companies and healthcare providers work together to improve quality, member experience, and cost of care.Help create reports and dashboards that track trends in quality, cost, utilization, and financial performance.Support business processes and workflows that help value-based care programs run effectively.Assist with reviewing program performance, incentive payment calculations, and cost and utilization trends.Prepare reports, presentations, and summaries that help share key findings in a clear and meaningful way.To be considered for this position you must have:Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Analytics, Finance, Information Systems, Public Health, or a related field.The strongest candidates for this position will also possess:Experience using Microsoft Excel, including formulas, PivotTables, or data analysis tools.Familiarity with SQL, Databricks, or Power BI –or a willingness to learn.Interest in healthcare finance, reimbursement, contracting, revenue cycle, or healthcare operations.Curiosity and strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with an interest in learning how to apply them in a healthcare business setting.What You'll Learn:How healthcare claims data is used to analyze trends and support business decisions.The basics of value-based care, provider reimbursement, and alternative payment models.How cost, quality, utilization, and financial performance are measured in healthcare.How dashboards and reports are developed to share data insights.How population health strategies support better outcomes and member experience.How health insurance companies and healthcare providers work together to improve outcomes and manage costs.How business processes and program administration support value-based care initiatives.How to communicate analytical insights through reports, presentations, and summaries.#LI-DNPLearn more about what makes BCBSNE such an exceptional place to work by visiting NebraskaBlue.com/Careers.We strongly believe that diversity of experience, perspective and background will lead to a better workplace for our employees and a better product for our customers and members.
