About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship focused on civil and roadway construction projects. You will gain hands-on experience by working directly on infrastructure sites to help bring engineering designs to life. This role is field-based, meaning your daily tasks will occur at assigned project locations rather than the office. Travel to these sites is required.
What you'll do#
- Perform construction observation of daily activities.
- Maintain a field book according to project procedures.
- Measure construction work and calculate quantities for pay items.
- Prepare Inspector’s Daily Reports and other necessary project documentation.
- Report work progress, technical issues, and any deficiencies to your project supervisor.
- Review project plans, specifications, and submittals.
- Assist project managers with design or other professional tasks.
- Maintain assigned company vehicles or equipment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS program for Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related curriculum.
- Prior experience working on field projects.
- A good driving record and a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

- This role is based out of Naperville, IL, and Chicago, IL, with work performed at field sites.
- This is an on-site, full-time position.
