About the role#
Benesch is offering a civil engineering internship focused on railroad track design. You will work on railway and transit infrastructure projects alongside experienced engineers. This role provides hands-on experience in design, project execution, and technical development. You will work under the direction of a Project Manager while gaining exposure to real-world transportation solutions.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design and development of railway and transit infrastructure.
- Conduct engineering calculations for railway system design and analysis.
- Support the design of system layouts while coordinating with various disciplines.
- Develop task deliverables that are clear, thorough, and reviewable.
- Ensure your tasks are completed on schedule and within the assigned budget.
- Work independently on assigned elements or projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS program for Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related curriculum.
- Experience developing plans and specifications using MicroStation.
- Ability to perform complex analysis and design.
- Skill in assembling complete design packages for projects.
- Strong organization and leadership habits.
- A track record of adhering to design budgets and schedules.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- This is a paid, full-time internship.
- The role follows a hybrid work schedule.
- Available locations include Milwaukee, WI; Naperville, IL; Omaha, NE; Charlotte, NC; and Raleigh, NC.
