About the role#
The Child and Adolescent Group Services (CAGS) Intern provides clinical care, safety, and training to clients within a community-based partial hospitalization setting. Working with a multi-disciplinary team, you will help develop and manage specialized treatment plans for children and adolescents year-round.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct care and facilitate therapeutic behavioral services for groups of clients.
- Lead and co-plan therapeutic groups while following established curricula.
- Document therapeutic service hours through daily progress notes and contribute to clinical records.
- Collaborate with licensed staff to develop and update treatment plans and complete discharge or transfer summaries.
- Perform psychiatric diagnostic evaluations and mental status exams as needed.
- Ensure client outcome tools and screeners are completed on schedule.
- Monitor client activities and maintain safety using the Therapeutic Crisis Model of Intervention.
- Assist with crisis intervention, problem resolution, and process discussions.
- Participate in client transportation and attend staffing meetings for youth and families.
- Report all incidents to the CAGS Clinical Supervisor immediately.
What you'll need#
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Current enrollment in a Master’s program for Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage & Family Therapy (first or second year).
- Valid SWT, CT, or LSW licensure.
- Previous experience working with children, adolescents, and their families.
- Strong clinical skills in therapy, crisis intervention, behavioral interventions, and substance abuse treatment.
- Ability to work with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
- Sensitivity to working with diverse individuals and communities.
- Proficiency with agency computer systems and software.
- Reliable transportation and availability for a flexible schedule.
