About the role#
BDO USA is hiring a Tax Intern for the Winter 2028 term in Houston. This role provides hands-on experience in core tax services. You will work under the supervision of experienced professionals to prepare returns and extensions while learning firm practices.
What you'll do#
- Prepare tax returns and extensions using tax software.
- Perform quarterly estimates and assist with year-end filing projections.
- Help respond to Internal Revenue Service notices.
- Collect data to meet filing requirements.
- Organize files to minimize rework and ensure compliance with firm policies and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
- Assist with income tax provisions and apply policies regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
- Use online research tools to monitor tax law and client developments.
- Recommend methods to maximize client benefits.
- Take initiative on engagement letters and upcoming due dates.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a related field.
- Current pursuit of a Masters degree in Accounting is preferred.
- Active pursuit of school credits to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Leadership experience is a plus.
