About the role#
As a Tax Intern in Core Tax Services, you will work under the supervision of experienced professionals to support our client base. You will gain hands-on experience with firm practices, build professional relationships, and apply your academic background to real-world tax projects. This is a full-time, paid summer internship.
What you'll do#
- Prepare tax returns, extensions, and quarterly estimates.
- Assist with responses to Internal Revenue Service notices.
- Collect data for filing requirements and organize files to minimize rework.
- Use tax software to complete simple tax returns.
- Apply firm policies, including those regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48, to income tax provisions.
- Operate online research tools to gather tax information.
- Monitor tax law developments and communicate relevant updates to your team.
- Track impending due dates and engagement letters.
- Assist in the projection of year-end filings.
- Develop and recommend methods to maximize client benefits.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to prepare simple tax returns.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
- Pursuing a masters degree in Accounting or a relevant field is preferred.
