Student Worker - Athletics Applied Performance

About the role#

The Applied Performance department at Baylor University is seeking a student worker to gain practical sports science experience within a Division 1, Big 12 Conference athletics program. This role provides support to various varsity sport programs and involves working directly under the Director for Applied Performance.

What you'll do#

• Support designated sport teams by managing performance technologies and assisting with data collection and analysis.
• Educate student-athletes on recovery strategies, performance optimization, and overall wellness.
• Communicate and collaborate with staff across various Sports Performance departments.
• Assist with administrative and logistical duties as required.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a field such as Kinesiology, Health Administration, Biology, Nutrition, Psychology, Data Science, Communications, or Public Health.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification.
• A background or strong interest in sports science, strength and conditioning, or related disciplines.
• Experience with software applications, including Microsoft Office, R, or Python.
• Strong work ethic, effective communication skills, and attention to detail.

Location & details#

• Location: Simpson Athletic and Academic Complex, Waco, Texas.
• Terms: Summer 2026 and Fall 2026.
• Modality: On-site.
• Commitment: Approximately 10 hours per week, with availability required during business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) as well as some evenings and weekends.
• Compensation: This is a paid position.
