About the role#
As an Events Intern at Bay Harbor Yacht Club, you will gain hands-on experience in luxury event sales and planning. You will work on weddings, fundraisers, corporate functions, and member events while collaborating with our team and vendors. This full-time seasonal role runs from May to August, with flexibility available to accommodate school schedules.
What you'll do#
- Plan and execute a variety of events including weddings and member gatherings.
- Manage event details in Event Temple and NorthStar systems.
- Produce documentation such as contracts, banquet event orders, floorplans, and invoices.
- Set up event spaces, including arranging tables, linens, and audio-visual equipment.
- Develop design concepts and create event stationery using Canva.
- Manage event budgets, registration, and check-in processes.
- Prepare information for weekly meetings and update the kitchen board.
- Communicate with clients via phone, email, and site visits.
- Support other departments and assist the banquet team during events as needed.
- Maintain organized event folders and improve internal processes.
What you'll need#
- 3-6 months of experience in events or a related field.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in or completion of a college degree is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort making quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to take initiative.
- Familiarity with Event Temple or NorthStar software is a plus.
