About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in restaurant and event operations at Bay Harbor Yacht Club. You will rotate through three different dining venues, learning the art of personalized service while supporting daily operations. This is a full-time, seasonal role for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Greet members and guests, providing attentive and personalized service.
- Learn member names and preferences to improve the guest experience.
- Acquire knowledge of food, drink, and wine menus.
- Assist in managing servers and server assistants during lunch and dinner shifts.
- Work with the kitchen team to expedite food and maintain service flow.
- Track and record club inventory for all dining outlets.
- Perform administrative tasks and assist managers with various projects.
- Update and create processes to improve service and organization.
- Ensure dining areas remain clean and presentable.
- Participate in events to execute food and beverage service.
- Check in with members during service to ensure satisfaction and resolve issues.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Currently pursuing or holding a college degree.
- At least 6 months of experience in food and beverage or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with POS systems is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of wines and spirits.
- Ability to remain calm during emergency situations.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.
Location & details#
- Location: Bay Harbor, Michigan.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, including holidays, weekends, and occasional travel.
- Environment: Indoor and outdoor settings with varying temperatures and noise levels.
