About the role#
Baxter & Woodman is hiring a Construction Engineering Intern for our Naperville office. This role starts in May 2027 and offers hands-on experience in the civil engineering field. You will work directly with our clients and support our transportation, water, and wastewater departments. This position involves active oversight of construction projects, including roadway reconstructions, bridge and wall improvements, and water infrastructure work.
What you'll do#
- Perform construction services including quantity computation, construction layout, survey, and inspection.
- Assist engineers with the evaluation, study, and design of transportation, storm sewer, potable water, sanitary sewers, and treatment plant improvements.
- Conduct field work and studies for water and wastewater system rehabilitation.
- Participate in the field observation of various projects.
What you'll need#
- Ongoing pursuit of a 4-year degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in construction engineering.
- Ability to start in May 2027.
- Desire and ability to work outdoors for 40+ hours per week.
- Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify and solve problems promptly.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Access to your own transportation and the ability to travel throughout the Baxter & Woodman service area.
