About the role#
This internship supports the Materials service line at Terracon. You will work alongside engineering professionals to gain experience with materials engineering technology. Each intern is assigned a mentor to assist with career planning and technical skill development. You will also participate in a cohort to connect with other interns across the country. The program concludes with a summit to meet company leaders and build professional relationships.
What you'll do#
- Learn site safety and safe work practices.
- Perform sampling or testing as directed.
- Assist field and laboratory personnel with routine tasks.
- Transport equipment, specimens, or documents to clients and offices.
- Provide physical assistance with equipment set-up.
- Learn industry standard practices for writing proposals and reports.
- Prepare reports and communicate test results to clients.
- Gain exposure to client interaction.
- Understand test procedures including ASTM, DOT, and COE standards.
- Learn about laboratory organization, scheduling, and efficiency.
- Study quality management systems and procedures.
- Learn to manage change orders and execute projects safely.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil or construction engineering.
- Interest in consulting and fieldwork.
- Demonstrated curiosity, teamwork, and alignment with company values.
- A valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history may be required.
