About the role#
This internship supports our Materials service line in Lincoln, Nebraska. You will work alongside engineering professionals to gain hands-on experience in materials engineering. Each intern is assigned a mentor to assist with career planning and technical skill development. You will participate in a national intern cohort and attend an end-of-summer summit to connect with peers and company leaders.
What you'll do#
- Learn to write proposals and manage change orders.
- Execute projects safely, accurately, and profitably.
- Perform sampling or testing as directed.
- Assist field and laboratory personnel with routine tasks.
- Transport equipment, specimens, or documents.
- Provide physical assistance in equipment set-up.
- Learn industry-standard report writing practices.
- Gain exposure to client interaction and communicate test results.
- Understand test procedures including ASTM, DOT, and COE standards.
- Learn about laboratory organization, scheduling, efficiency, and quality management systems.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma.
- Current enrollment in a BS or Master's degree program in civil or construction engineering.
