About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking an intern for our Actuarial Division. This is a paid, full-time position for Summer 2027. You will work in our Lansing office to support our ratemaking team and learn core insurance principles.
What you'll do#
- Learn to use and understand insurance manuals and principles.
- Evaluate frequency, severity, and premium trends to project future losses based on historical data.
- Prepare and organize reports for management to support decision making.
- Communicate project findings to team members through verbal and written updates.
- Engage in formal and informal training sessions throughout the summer.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program for Actuarial Science, Math, Predictive Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Completion of at least two years of your undergraduate curriculum.
- Strong aptitude for mathematics and actuarial sciences.
- Experience with statistical modeling and related software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
Location & details#
- This role is based on-site in Lansing, Michigan.
- The schedule is full-time, totaling 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Typical shift options include 8:00am to 4:30pm or 7:30am to 4:00pm to align with your mentor.
- You must be able to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
