About the role#
This 12-week internship provides a hands-on opportunity to explore a career in the non-profit sector. You will work with the Mid-Atlantic Chapter community engagement team on the Baltimore Empower Walk and 5k. While the role is remote, you will maintain constant communication with the field team and volunteers to support fundraising, participant outreach, and corporate communication.
What you'll do#
- Research prospects for sponsorship and corporate event support.
- Conduct outreach to local community organizations, social media groups, and influencers.
- Create and execute social media plans.
- Provide customer service to local event participants.
- Reach out to lapsed past teams and follow up with current teams for local events.
- Perform community outreach to identify potential sponsors, volunteers, and constituents.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student (undergraduate or graduate) at an accredited institution where you will receive academic credit or require this experience for a degree certification.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow up on tasks.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and social media platforms.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with a focus on interpersonal and customer service interactions.
- Initiative, resourcefulness, and a willingness to learn about fundraising and event management.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage tasks for events occurring during the internship term.
